Chris Orr PortraitChris Orr was born in London in 1943. He is a painter, pintmaker and teacher who attended Ravensbourne College of Art, 1959-63, Hornsey College of Art, 1963-4, and Royal College of Art. 1964-7. He has taught at the Ruskin School of Drawing in Oxford and Royal College of Art where he became Professor of Printmaking in 1998.

Since 1976 Orr has also published 9 books that extend and amplify his ideas. His work is in the collection of Victoria and Albert Museum, Arts Council of Great Britain, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts, Science Museum, and the Tate Gallery. Orr was elected RA in 1995 and awarded MBE in 2008.
