Signed and dated watercolour, gouache and ink.

Gross was appointed as a salaried war artist at the height of invasion fears in the summer and early autumn of 1940. During late 1940 and throughout 1941 he painted 98 sketches, watercolour and oil paintings on home front themes such as the Blitz, including this image of the bombed Haberdashers' Hall in the City of London.
